The first experience of hybrid surgery with simultaneous proximal and distal endovascular revascularization in treatment of peripheral arterial disease

Abstract

Hybrid operations on the arteries of the lower extremities, performed for obliterating atherosclerosis, is a promising area of vascular surgery. However, performing these operations is associated with a number of technical difficulties due to the lack of a clear concept of the sequence of open and endovascular stages as part of a hybrid operation, which can provoke various complications. The presented clinical example demonstrates the effectiveness of one of the ways to solve this problem by using a hybrid surgery technique with simultaneous endovascular revascularization in the proximal and distal direction of the lower limb arteries. We implemented the described method of hybrid intervention by using an intraoperatively simulated synthetic patch with two branches, through which the endovascular stage of the operation was performed.
