Dear colleagues,
Abstract
It is a real
pleasure to write an editorial to an interesting journal issue. First of all,
with the two articles on the morphology of the myocardium and, particularly,
cardiomyocytes, we confirm, once again, our objective to unify fundamental and
practical results in surgery.
An entire set
of articles describing the outcome of the efficient workshop in hypertrophic
cardiomyopathy diagnostics and surgery, that took place in Novosibirsk last
autumn, is important too. You can watch the video report on meetings and
operations in the previous journal issue, and we will keep on publishing
articles about this crucial academic convention.
Recent
discoveries in surgical and endovascular reconstruction of the heart anatomy
have been published in this issue as well.
And, finally,
information about the COVID pandemic, once again... Unfortunately, with a sharp
decline in acute infection, late severe complications, primarily cardiac ones,
are being exposed during the post-pandemic period. Though it is possible that
progressive ill-being in the COVID-19 convalescents’ conditions is being
detected by other healthcare specialists (neurologists, pulmonologists,
gastroenterologists) as well. Contributions of such type are essential and of
considerable interest to our editorial team.
And another
small but important explanation to our authors: this issue is mainly full of
articles on cardiovascular surgery and cardiology, it does not imply that they
are our editorial team’s peculiar affinities and professional sympathies. The
date when the article was received does not play a significant role in making a
decision when and where to publish: we are striving to prepare more dedicated
issues in our intention to focus on 2 or 3 central problems. All contributions
worthy of reading will find their place in the next issues of our journal.
Enjoy reading!
